Dive and Snorkel

Calypso-1

Explore the very outer Great Barrier Reef in comfort and style with Calypso. Custom designed vessels, available for charter, offer the very best in comfort with spacious decks, day-bed style seating, air-conditioned saloons and submerged platforms, allowing for easy in-water access.

Discover the underwater world at Agincourt or Opal Reef, exploring rich and diverse coral gardens by snorkelling, introductory or certified diving at a selection of some of the best sites found on the reef off Port Douglas.

Your day on Calypso includes visiting 3 reef sites, guided snorkel tours, interpretive reef talk, all snorkelling equipment as well as morning & afternoon tea and lunch. Available for charter the capacity of our Calypso vessels is either 65 or 85 passengers.

Inclusions

  • All snorkelling equipment – we have a variety of masks, snorkels and fins to fit different faces and feet. Wetsuits, lycra suits and prescription masks are available

Itinerary:
8:20 to 8:45am - Boarding commences at 8:20am at the Crystalbrook Marina, Port Douglas. As the Calypso crew welcomes you aboard you will be fitted out with your own snorkelling equipment before relaxing with light refreshments.

8.45 to 10:10am - It is time to sit back and relax while we travel to our first site. If you are participating in a dive your dive guide will take this opportunity to brief you on your dive.

10:20 to 11:15am - First Site – Divers are briefed, enter water while snorkellers enjoy an informative talk on how to snorkel safely. After snorkelling/diving at the first site morning tea is served.

11:50 to 1:50pm - Second Site – We travel to our second breathtaking site (for diving and snorkelling) where a guided snorkelling tour is available before a tropical buffet lunch is served. After all that scrumptious food you can partake in a reef interpretive chat by one of our friendly crew.

1:50 to 3:00pm - Third Site – A short trip to our final site for another snorkelling and diving opportunity before enjoying afternoon tea.

3:00 to 4:15pm - Cruise home returning at approximately 4:15pm.

Tropical Island 

Visit Low Isles, a coral cay located just off the coast of Port Douglas, teeming with bird and marine life. 

Half or Full Day Option

 Join us for a snorkelling experience at a secluded island at the best times of day, either early morning and afternoon. Perfect as a half-day experience, we arrive at Low Isles after a 30 minute journey.

Our guests will explore the coral reef and its inhabitants without the crowds, enjoying 2.5 hours to snorkel and explore this picturesque coral cay. Snorkel in the calm lagoon or view the reef from our glass bottom boat, Calypso’s crew will provide tours for guests to learn and appreciate the incredible Great Barrier Reef.

Access to the reef is very easy, either from the back of the vessel or from the beach as the reef hugs close to the island. On our two departures daily, guests can access the island, and explore the sandy paths winding through the vegetation.

See first hand the historical Lighthouse, the Lighthouse Keeper’s home and the Weather Station where local weather data is collected. Bird life found here is spectacular, with many sea birds breeding and nesting in the vegetation and on the ground.

7.15am to 7.30am - Boarding Commences – At 7.15am at the Crystalbrook Marina, Port Douglas. As the Calypso Low Isles crew welcome you aboard you will be fitted out with your own snorkelling equipment before relaxing with light refreshments.

7.30am to 8:00am - Cruise Time – It is time to sit back and relax while we travel to Low Isles. Half hour travel time with refreshments served.

8:00am to 10:30am - Free time – Choose your own experience. Walk to the lighthouse, jump on a guided snorkel tour, swim, sunbathe, jump on Glass Bottom Boat or relax.

10.45am to 11:00am - Boarding – Jump back on board Calypso bost to head back to Port Douglas.

11:00am to 11:30am - Cruise back – Enjoy short cruise back to Port Douglas.

Afternoon Itinerary:
12.45pm to 1pm - Boarding Commences – At 12.45am at the Crystalbrook Marina, Port Douglas. As the Calypso Low Isles crew welcome you aboard you will be fitted out with your own snorkelling equipment before relaxing with light refreshments.

1.15pm to 1:45pm - Cruise Time – It is time to sit back and relax while we travel to Low Isles. Half hour travel time with refreshments served.

2:00pm to 4:30pm - Free time – Choose your own experience. Walk to the lighthouse, jump on a guided snorkel tour, swim, sunbathe, jump on Glass Bottom Boat or relax

4.45pm to 5.15pm - Cruise back – Enjoy short cruise back to Port Douglas.

Itinerary:

Depart Port Douglas approx 7.20am 


Mossman Gorge: Walk through ancient rainforest and see the crystal clear waters of the Mossman River flow over giant boulders.

Daintree River Ferry

Rainforest boardwalks: Be guided through this pristine rainforest and discover its incredible diversity.

Cape Tribulation: Learn about Captain Cook’s journey along the coast of Queensland. Enjoy a walk along the beach, this is where the rainforest meets the reef.

Cooper Creek River Cruise: Enjoy a cruise spotting estuarine crocodiles and other wildlife along the banks of this mangrove lined creek.

Heritage Lodge: This hidden rainforest resort is the location for lunch.

Treetops-Cape-Tribulation

Enjoy the Daintree in a whole new way with our Ultimate Daintree zipline tour. Our guides will take you past all the beautiful sights of the Daintree Rainforest and Cape Tribulation including an amazing zipline experience with our friends from Treetops Adventure.

You’ll explore the rainforest canopy by ziplining up to 15m above the ground, stroll along one of the best boardwalks and hop on a river cruise to see Cape Tribulation's famous inhabitants: the estuarine crocodiles!

Itinerary:

Depart Port Douglas at 7:45am

  • Experience the best of the Daintree National Park on foot, gliding through the trees and on the water.
  • Guests are collected from their accommodation in Port Douglas from 8am and the journey starts.
  • After crossing the Daintree River by ferry, our first stop is Alexandra Lookout. See the panoramic views of Port Douglas, Low Isles and Snapper Island out at sea and the mouth of the Daintree River.
  • Once at Cape Tribulation, your guide will take you for a stroll along the beach where the rainforest meets the reef.
  • Only a short drive away, the Treetops Adventure Centre is where the ziplining fun begins.
  • Get geared up, have morning tea and we're on our way to the start of the ziplining course. 2 hours of fun in the trees as guides take you through the canopy of the oldest rainforest on Earth.
  • Having worked up an appetite, lunch is served while exchanging stories about the fun had in the trees.
  • Starting the journey south, our next stop is a crocodile and wildlife cruise. 1 hour on the water searching for crocodiles, interesting wildlife and the incredible eco-system of mangroves.
  • Last stop for the day is at the Daintree Ice Cream Company. Guests can purchase an ice-cream made from tropical fruit grown on the property, a must do.
  • Back over the Daintree River ferry and returning to Port Douglas at around 4.30pm. Our guide will drop you off at your accommodation.
